Biggest Success

Each day I work for Capabilities I see bigger and better success stories. If it is a person who has just learned to use the computer for the first time or someone that finally was able to pass a test, the stories abound. I have not worked for Capabilities for a long period of time, but the people I work with in the office and those referred, I consider family.

Day of Providing Service that You Would Write a Book About

The one aspect of this adventure we call Capabilities is that no day is ever the same and most days will not turn out just like planned. It is almost like Indiana Jones would "I'm making this up as I go along". This is due to the nature of our vocation. We deal with people that are looking for adjustments that they can make to become more productive. They want to be treated with respect and feel like they are contributing to the community. In our work, life finds a way. Sounds like a good book to me.

Why I love What I Do

I love that the job constantly changes. Each day schedule changes, construction delays, person served adaptations and meeting new people make for an exciting experience. No two days are the same and seldom does the days go exactly as planned. It makes me feel alive changing schedules, meeting different types of adults and then switching to high school seniors. It is one heck of a ride.

Interesting Fact About Yourself

I love the Bengals. Every game I go to I wear an outfit including tiger striped pants with a tail, shoulder pads, an authentic jersey, a belt pouch, orange and black gloves and shoes , a helmet and full facepaint. Each game is an awesome experience.

Previous Experience Outside of Capabilities

I am what you would call "a jack of all trades and a master of some". My resume includes teaching in alternative, adult and high school classrooms. I have taught Social Studies and Computer classes to ages 10-75. I have 15 years of restaurant experience as well many years of factory experience. I am a church youth group leader for many years and I have two trouble making children.

If you could have dinner...

I would love to have dinner with my Uncle. He passed away last June . He was more of a father figure than any other person in my life. So many times I would try a project and when it all looked grim, he would come in and fix it in less than a day. This man literally could build anything. He was such an amazing person.
