About Me

I strive to do my best and care for the people I serve, my co-workers, supervisors, employers, and our funders. Before my work at Capabilities, I was a teacher in Ohio for 32 years. I have over two years experience working with employers to find quality candidates in the Lima area. I look forward to connecting with you.

Biggest Success

It is every one of my placements! I love getting the news from my clients telling me they have been hired. The joy in their voices is especially joyful for me. I like taking on what looks like an impossible job to fill and getting those persons served employment. I have had a few of those!

Day of Providing Service that You Would Write a Book About

It would be hard to do one day, all my personal achievements with persons served is an adventure, sometimes for a short period, others would be for months! I would call the book “plugging away”. Sometimes that is how it feels, you just have to keep plugging away to find that perfect fit for the person served. When it is right, it is very exciting for my clients and for me!

Why I love What I Do

I had two special needs brothers who I saw struggle in their daily lives and with employment. I saw firsthand how strong parents and a supportive employer can make a world of difference in the lives of persons with disabilities. One of my brothers was extremely successful ( I only hope I get the same amount of success in my life with my abilities); and my other brother struggled throughout his life and never found that success. I think of both of my brothers daily and this gives me drive to do the best for all of my persons served.

Interesting Fact About Yourself

I sung in choir from 7th grade - 12th grade, and was in band for the same time period. I also currently sing with my church choir; and with all of that I cannot read music!! I do all music by ear( I guess on notes). I was the Player of the Year in Lima 1977 for High School Baseball.

Previous Experience Outside of Capabilities

I was a High School Teacher in Ohio for 32 years and coached about every sport you can think of, including 25 years of football. I finished the last 26 years of teaching in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and I was a History teacher. I have been married 38 years to my high school sweetheart and have 2 children and six grandchildren ( and 2 cats – which includes an 18 pound Tom Cat).
